This lesson will introduce students to polymers, which are unique materials that demonstrate properties of both solids and liquids (meaning they are viscoelastic). They will learn about the wide variety of properties that polymers can possess and how they actually encounter a range of different polymer products every day. The factors causing polymers to have different properties will be demonstrated. Then they will finish with a hands-on activity where they make their own polymers with different properties by varying the amount of crosslinking agent!
